ABOUT THE OWNERS

Hello! Julia and Sam here! We are the proud owners of 'Our Place Respite Inc.' We love running this day program. We opened June 2018, and haven't stopped having fun since! (Hint our 80s inspired staff photos)

Here's a little bit about Samantha. I am Samantha, but you can call me Sam. I am ECE (Early Childhood Educator) certified. I worked in the ECE field for 20 years, and have been working in the DSW (Developmental Service Worker) field for 5 years.  I am also a certified mother (of 2) and cat owner (also of 2). I believe in making every day so awesome that yesterday gets jealous! So you could say that I am filled with the same positivity and optimism as Julia. I lived and taught English in Shenyang China for 3 years. This was, by far, the most important experience of my life. I learned a lot about myself and others during that time and believe that it played a major role in shaping me into the person I am today. After coming back from China I lived in Montreal for 10 years before moving home to St. Thomas. I believe in savoring even the smallest of moments and then learning from them. I believe in being mindful, empathetic, and honest. I believe in fun and humor. I love to create, and make people laugh.

Julia is a certified PSW (Personal Support Worker) and also is ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) certified, and has been working in the field of DSW (Developmental Service Worker) for 11 years.  She is also a Wife, Mum, and dog lover. She loves to knit and play drums and is also a lover of chocolate.  She loves all of her jobs with a passion. She is full of optimism and positive energy and carries it right through to her career.
